I agree with another reviewer that most of the low ratings are due to frustrations rather than the actual product. The fact is that this is designed to teach people to dance while getting a workout. Keyword being dance, which is never easy if you are a beginner. It requires time and patience, and results often happen when you least expect it.
I just got this a week ago and started with the kick start DVD. I am very uncoordinated and horrible at keeping time and this was very helpful. Now, the key is, once that becomes easy, don’t expect to be able to do the full workout. I did the kick start section every day for a week and often times would repeat the workouts 2 or 3 times to make sure I fully got the moves. The fact is that if you are good, but not great, at those moves then the full workout will be kind of hard. Muscle memory is key.
The other thing I did was watch both the full and quick workouts while I was stretching. It’s good to know what to expect so that when you go into the workout you don’t have to keep rewinding. When I started out I just repeated the warm up a few times because that alone is pretty energetic (I’m also short on time usually).
Overall I really enjoy this. It’s fun, pretty low impact knee-wise (maybe that’s because I’m too worried about stomping and pissing off my neighbors below me), and I have actually become a way better dancer – which is shocking considering I have issues walking. You just have to go into this with an open mind and know that you don’t have to do the full anything, you can break it down into sections and seriously go at your own pace. Don’t let your frustrations get the better of you.
My only complaints are that they don’t do enough 8 counts and the music could be a bit better. The thing with the 8 counts is that, for me personally, I can’t count music too well, so it’d be nice to throw those in from the beginning so you can train yourself to the beat better.

Works exactly as advertised – and for a very reasonable price – What is to complain about? You can’t buy a knife and a pair of scissors for a whole lot less.
This was the first package opener I ever saw and it made so much sense that I grabbed it immediately. I’ve now used an OpenX for at many years and it’s rare when it can’t do the job.
Make about a 3/4″ slice with the small blade then hook in the larger one. The trick to it, and the hardest part too, is to hook into only ONE layer of plastic. On some packages this is easiest on the “bubble” part of the package, not an edge. After that, its very easy to use. If you need to get documentation out, it’s then much easier to get that single layer near the edges after you’ve cut out the item from the bubble. Neatness does not have to count.
I’ve had three of these and eventually lost or misplaced two. On this last one, I broke the plastic on it’s “lower jaw” after two or three years of use and abuse, but it seemed to be starting to getting dull anyway. After all, it’s basically just utility knife blades in a fancy handle and they all will eventually get dull. It’s still usable but not as safely, so I am ordering a couple more. Fortunately they’re pretty cheap and well worth the price.
How much are your fingers worth ? Just cut them while opening “security containers” and you’ll have to agree that this little opener is well worth the price !
This is just one of those small and simple products that makes life easier.
Personally I wish packaging would change and we wouldn’t have to resort to this sort of tool.
BUT, as that’s not going to happen, this is the solution. I have about a half a dozen of these things all over the house and office and I’ve been using them for years now.
I use them all the time. I open blister packs in seconds without cutting myself and with so much less frustration. I also open normally taped packages using the tiny blade which come out when pushing on the button.
Works great!
It works, but it’s somewhat awkward to use. Part of the reason is the often difficult shapes and different thinknesses of package plastic covering it has to deal with. It has two blades- a fixed-in-place one on the front, and the second blade that slides out of the side near the front (see the blue plastic thumb slide knob in the picture of the item). You need to start with the spring loaded thumb-push-to-open sliding blade which works like a box cutter. At this point you’re pushing the slidable blade forward with your thumb pushing the blue knob, while pulling the entire cutter toward you to make an initial cut or slit in the plastic. A real box cutter might be better for starters. Then you insert the front fixed blade along the slit you made with the initial box cutter like action. The front blade can cut along to open the package by pushing the entire cutter forward to extend the slit. It can take some muscle to do this, as the thick plastic doesn’t always cut easily with the fixed blade. I wouldn’t let young kids near this thing. They could easily cut themselves on the, box cutter-like movable blade.
Looks good…works great…red color stands out when I am looking for it around the house!
The cover is described as ‘leather,’ but feels more like metal and is heavier than I would have imagined. My biggest complaint is that you must remove the cover (which does not come off that easily) in order to recharge the Kindle because the cover interferes with the charger connection. All that being said, it does seem to do a good job of protecting the Kindle itself….and I do love the Kindle!
Love the case, but light could be better. Not quite as good as Mightly Lite. But, all in all, a good value for the price.
I bought this case for my mom’s birthday, as she received a Kindle 2 from someone else. I have to admit that when I opened the package and saw how small a thing I had just spent $40 on, I was let down. The fact that the book light was generic and not labeled for the Kindle made it seem cheap (silly, but true). Once I gave it to Mom, and she put the case on the Kindle, I realized that it completely made up for poor presentation. It fits perfectly, so the Kindle is safe from slipping out while she’s reading. She can prop it up easily. I bought the red one, which is very stylish and attractive. It gives the Kindle 2 more the appearance of a luxery item and not just another piece of tech. I HIGHLY recommend this case.
the leather case is great, the only complaint about it is i was not able to leave it in the case and plug it in. as far as the book light i did not get a book light with it. i ended up getting another case that opens like a book does, it i was able to leave the kindle in while recharging. so pros and cons i guess.
